The objects are designed in collaboration with Boisbuchet for MUDAC's upcoming perfume exhibition. The smooth weighty ceramic receptacles are designed to float within a pool of water. As the hands of the smell capturer reach out to clutch the vessel they must enter the cool fresh water, invigorating the senses before coming into contact with the scent of the perfume itself. The notion of ‘ritual’ was explored through the making of this piece.
The ancient technique of wood-firing gives the ceramic its burnt colouration, which cannot be predicted prior to the firing process.
